Learn to draw with my favorite drawing books

Have you ever read a learn to draw book?  My own kiddos love them!  I usually find them surrounded by a mountain of paper when they use their drawing books.  In my classroom I put drawing books in the free time section for when the kids are done their art work early.

One of the kids favorites is this oldie but goodie, How to draw people and animals by Robert Pierce.

I had this one as a kid and I even drew in the back.  It's a great one because it has very simple drawings and the step by step boxes are easy to follow.  One day I found my daughter copying my drawing I had done as a kid.

Create colorful paint for your kids to use in the bathtub

Lots of great ideas this week on the weekly kids co-op!  My favorite this week was from Momma's Fun World.  They posted how to create colorful paint for your kids to use in the bathtub.

She made Scented paint for the bathtub using Kool-Aid and shaving cream.  What a fabulous idea!  Check out her blog and see the recipe and all the fun they had.

Toddler art activity painting with pudding

So the other day the kindergarten students in my art class were painting up a storm and mixing colors to their surprise as they added more colors it eventually always turned brown. So we ended up with a class full of brown paintings, brown blobs on the floor, brown fingers, brown hands, brown arms, and brown legs...do you notice a theme?  So that got me reminiscing about when I used to paint with chocolate pudding.

Have you ever tried it??  It's so much fun and the kids have a blast!  The above photo was taken when my kiddos were 2 years old but I think even now they would have a blast. Notice the lack of clothes?  Definitely a good idea when painting with little ones. Time to break out the pudding, I think!
